TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jaala Torrence took the mound for Bama in the second game against the University of Texas. Texas got on the board first, off a walk with bases loaded taking the lead 1-0 before going into the bottom of the 2nd. Ally Shipman tied it in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI groundout.

The Tide took the lead with Dallis Goodnight scoring off a double steal attempt, 2-1 Bama. Montana Fouts took over for Torrence at the top of the 4th after Torrence threw her one strikeout. Fouts came up with a huge strikeout at the 6th inning while bases were loaded to end the top of the 6th for her fourth strikeout. Alabama scored late in the bottom of the 6th off Kat Grills RBI groundout making the score 3-1.

The Alabama Crimson Tide won the game at the top of the 7th on a fly-out to right field winning 3-1. Bama advances to 18-0 headed into tonight’s game against Miami (OH). The win over Texas is Fouts seventh win of the season.

Alex Salter started the second game of the day against Miami (OH). Miami of Ohio scored first with a solo shot home run at the top of the 2nd. The second Texas game and first Miami of Ohio game are the first two games where Bama hasn’t scored first all season.

Bama took out Salter at the top of the 4th and put Fouts in to help relieve some pressure on the defense. Abby Doerr tied the game on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 4th, followed by Johnson’s sac fly allowing Alabama to take the late lead 2-1. Miami of Ohio returned the favor immediately at the top of the 5th tying the game 2-2 headed into the bottom of the 5th.

Alabama responded quickly at the bottom of the 5th with Bailey Dowling sending a ball to the moon on a two-run home run, taking the lead back 4-2. Fouts threw two strikeouts in the final inning to secure the win for Tide. Bama won the game 4-2, with Fouts getting both wins for Saturday’s games.

Alabama carries on their undefeated streak 19-0, heading into Sunday’s game against Miami (OH) at 12:30 P.M. CT. When talking about the teams performance Coach Patrick Murphy said “I was really have with both Torrence and Saltar combine I think they gave us 6 and two-thirds basically pitched a complete game and we needed that you know with Kilfoyl not available to help out Montana I think both of them did good things.”

Monday’s game against Eastern Illinois is cancelled due to bad weather.
