TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Crimson Tide earned their second win of the season over UAB this Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala.

Alex Salter started things off first for the Tide on the mound with Jala Torrence coming in later for the save and earning the win. UAB took the lead early in the bottom of the 1st off, an RBI single giving them a 1-0 lead over Alabama.

Jenna Lord put Bama on the board in the top of the 2nd with a perfectly placed bunt that got past the defense and drove in a run, tying up the game 1-1. The game was silent for a while for both teams until the top of the 5th when the Tide had the bases-loaded and a fielding error occurred that extended the inning and gave Bama a 2-1 lead over UAB.

At the top of the 6th Ally Shipman drew a bases-loaded walk 3-1 Alabama. A fielding error occurred on the warning track that brought in a pair of runs for Bama extending their lead 5-1 in the top of the 6th. Aubrey Barnhart hit an RBI single into right field bringing two runs across the plate, 7-1 Crimson Tide.

Abby Doerr hit an RBI single to center field to end the game 8-1 in the top of the 6th. Torrence threw 4 hitless shutout innings earning her 5th win of the season. The Crimson Tide are back in action this weekend on the road in Columbia, S.C. First game of the weekend will kick off on Friday, March 25 at 5 p.m. CT, Saturday’s game will take place at 1 p.m. CT and the final game of the weekend will be on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.
