TUSCALOOSA, Ala – – The Alabama Crimson Tide successfully completed their sweep of the 2019 Easton Bama Bash Sunday by defeating the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 5-1 on Sunday, February 24.
The Tide were able to get the bats going early on thanks to back-to-back RBI-singles from Bailey Hemphill (DP) and Merris Schroeder (OF). Which would give Bama a 2-0 lead after the first.
Although, the Warhawks came back in the fourth with an RBI single of their own by Ana Hogan (DP) to cut the lead to 2-1.
Caroline Hardy (1B) would not let anyone spoil her senior recognition day as just when the Tide needed it, she hammered a two-run homer out to left field to give the Crimson Tide a 4-1 lead in the fifth. Then the very next inning, Hardy would hit an RBI-single to extend it to a 5-1 lead which would seal it for the Tide.
The Alabama Crimson Tide Softball Team finished the Easton Bama Bash 5-0, which also made them 15-0, extending their winning streak. This tournament sweep had some great all-around team victories, but there are a couple of standout players as well such as Bailey Hemphill (two HR, seven RBIs), Reagan Dykes (one HR, three RBIs) and Caroline Hardy (one 2B, two HR, five RBIs).
Next, the Crimson Tide will play one game against the UAB Blazers on February 27, in Birmingham, ALA at 6 p.m. CT. Then, they will come back to Tuscaloosa to take on Michigan State, Southern Miss and Saint Francis in the Easton Crimson Classic beginning on March 1.
