FRISCO, Texas. – No. 16 Alabama Baseball opened up the Frisco Classic with a 12-0 run-rule win in its best game of the season over the No. 20 Indiana Hoosiers.
The Bama bats wasted no time to start the game , scoring five runs with RBIs from Ian Petrutz on a single, Will Hodo with a two-run double and Mac Guscette on a two-run single. 10 batters had a plate appearance in the inning and chased Hoosier starter Brayden Risedorph out of the game.
Ben Hess got the ball for the Tide and was dominant throughout. Hess went through four innings before allowing a hit, fought off a liner off the back in the bottom of the fourth and still dealt. Hess tallied 10 strikeouts in 5 innings of work on one walk, one hit and tallying the win moving to 3-0 with the longest start so far this season by a starter. Caulson Buchanan relieved Hess in the sixth, putting up 2 innings of work with three strikeouts.
The bats had almost an identical inning in the fourth as it did in the first with a seven-run inning with RBIs from Petrutz on a double, Evan Sleight with a three-run no-doubter blast to right, a sacrifice fly from Gage Miller and on a wild pitch from Bryce Eblin.
Alabama was led at the plate by TJ McCants, who extended the hit streak to 10 games going two-for-four with a double and Hodo, who went two-for-three with two-RBI and two doubles.
Up next for the 10-0 Crimson Tide is a matchup with the Arizona Wildcats, with first pitch set for 4 p.m. CT, where Aidan Moza will get the ball.
