TUSCALOOSA– Lexi Kilfoyl took the mound for the Crimson Tide in the sold-out Rhodes Stadium facing the Georgia Bulldogs.

Both teams were silent for the first two innings, until Georgia struck first in the top of the 3rd with a solo homerun. Georgia put a couple of hits together to extend their lead 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd.

Alabama quickly returned the favor in the bottom of the 3rd, with an Ashley Prange RBI double to the center field wall to score Megan Bloodworth 2-1 Georgia. The Bulldogs added another run to their lead at the top of the 4th off an RBI single. The Crimson Tide tied the game in the bottom of the 4th with an, RBI single to score Bailey Dowling and Jenna Johnson hit an RBI single to left field to score Savannah Woodard 3-3 heading into the top of the 5th.

Both teams were silent in the 5th inning and the Tides defense shut down the Bulldogs in the 6th. In the bottom of the 6th Bama lit up the score board with a Jenna Johnson two-run home run to take the lead. Followed by an RBI single by Abby Doerr making the score 6-3 in the bottom of the 6th leading to Georgia’s second pitching change.

The Bulldogs made their 4th pitching change of the day in the bottom of the 6th, three just in one inning. Ally Shipman kept things going in the 6th with a two-run RBI double, followed by Dowling’s RBI single extending the score 9-3 heading into the top of the 7th. Kilfoyl ended the game on a major strike out, leading to the Tides 9-3 win.

“Big one was Barnhart coming through and then the 6th inning, we finally did what I asked all year which was pass the bat down. That’s what we needed,” said Coach Patrick Murphy.

The Tide close out the Georgia series tomorrow at 6 P.M. CT at Rhodes Stadium.
