TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alex Salter started things off good for the Tide with three up three down at the top of the first. The Tide extended the inning with Jenna Lord hitting an RBI single to clear the baes making the score 3-0 at the bottom of the 1st.

Bama’s defense kept things silent for Alabama State in the second inning. Megan Bloodworth extended the Tides inning on a two-out RBI double all the way to the centerfield wall, followed by Kali Heivilin hitting an RBI single to left field making the score 5-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.

Jordan Stephens scores off an errant throw to second keeping the Tides two out inning going. Heivilin scores on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 3rd keeping the inning going 7-0 Tide. Alabama’s defense kept Alabama States offense silent, allowing no hit or errors heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Alabama’s Salter earned her first no hitter against Alabama State as the Tide won the game in the bottom of the fifth on run-rule with Savannah Woodard hitting a triple all the way to the wall to bring in the winning run 8-0.

Salters no hitter makes it Alabama’s 40th no hitter in program history. Coach Patrick Murphy said, “The key to the whole game was the first at bat though, we have seven freshmen on the field which is unnerving within itself, Salters off-speed was good, her drop-ball was good. I thought we had really good at bats the whole game.”

Alabama is back in action this weekend at Rhodes stadium against Georgia on Saturday at 3:30 P.M. CT.
