TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jaala Torrence started things off for the Tide on the mound. Kat Grill put the Tide on the board at the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single to score Abby Doerr 1-0 Bama. Dallis Goodnight had a triple in the bottom of the 3rd that went all the way to the centerfield wall.
In the bottom of the 5th Bailey Dowling led off the inning with a double and scored off Kat Grills error on hit making the score 2-0 with no outs. Jenna Johnson tagged on another run for the Tide on a wild pitch.
Ally Shipman really got things going for Bama with a two-run single in the bottom of the 5th, bumping the score to 5-0. Megan Bloodworth kept things going with the bases loaded, with an RBI single scoring Shipman, 6-0 Alabama. Torrence with a diving out at the plate to keep the score 6-0 Bama.
Shipman increases things with an RBI double in the bottom of the 6th 7-0 Tide. Alabama wins it in the top of the 7th on a game ending catch the 3rd baseman Jenna Lord.
“Jaala Torrence was awesome tonight. The defense played well behind her and then we got the hits on offense. We didn’t have that one ‘big’ hit, but those seven runs proved to be enough. I was very pleased with Jaala and our defense tonight,” said Coach Pat Murphy.
Torrence secured her fourth win of the season with the 7-0 shut out against UAB. The Alabama Crimson Tide are 16-0 heading into this weekend’s T-Mobile Crimson Classic. Bama will be back in action at Rhodes Stadium this weekend to take on The University of Texas and Miami University (OH) on Friday March 4th at 6 P.M. CT and Saturday at 2:30 P.M. CT and 5 P.M. CT.
