TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- On Saturday, Sep 18 the Tide concluded their non-conference schedule defeating Western Carolina and Tennessee Tech.

Alabama (8-4) started the day off with a crucial win against Western Carolina (4-7), falling short in the first set with a set score of 21-25, before gaining momentum to win the next three sets. The set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 25-23. On Saturday night, The Crimson Tide faced Tennessee Tech and won the first two sets outscoring the Golden Eagles with set scores of 25-13 and 25-16. The third set was a thrilling battle between the two, with the Tide winning the set 25-23. 

With Alabama winning all three games over the weekend, this marks the Tide’s third tournament title win of the season along with the Marshall Invitational (Aug. 27-28) and the Crimson Tide Invitational (Sept. 2-4). After the game, Kennedy Muckelroy was named Bama Bash MVP while Brooke Slusser was named on the All-Tournament team. 

Abby Marjama led the team with a combined 21 kills in Saturday’s two matches. Marjama also hit a career high with now scoring at least one service ace in five straight matches, including a season-high six Saturday against Western Carolina. Chaise Campbell and Dru Kuck also hit career highs against Western Carolina. Campbell had a high of 13 kills while Kuck had a high of 26 digs. 

With the Tide’s three wins, this marks them 5-1 in Foster Auditorium this season, beating their home winning records from 2019 and 2020.

The Crimson Tide will be back in Foster Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. to face off against Texas A&M. Wednesday’s match will open the Tide’s first 18-game SEC schedule. Alabama ranks ninth in SEC standings with an overall record of 8-4.
