Both men’s and women’s tennis went 0-2 this weekend in the beginning of SEC play.

MEN’S TENNIS

MARCH 2: No.44 Alabama fell to No. 34 Vanderbilt 4-3 at home

In singles play, No. 113 Mazen Osama, Edson Ortiz and Alexey Nesterow all recorded victories while Thibault Cancel, Zhe Zhou and Patrick Kaukovalta were defeated.

 

In doubles, the Ortiz/Osama pair dropped to their opponents as well as the Roberto/Kaukovalta pair, conceding the first doubles point this season. No. 40 Cancel/Nesterov recorded a win.

MARCH 4: No. 44 Alabama fell to No. 28 Kentucky 4-0 at home, making them 0-2 in SEC play

In singles play, Zhe Zhou and Edson Ortiz snagged victories, the only ones for the single players

The No. 34 Ortiz/Osama pair was the only of the three to defeat their Wildcat opponent.

The men’s tennis team will take on the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on March 9.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

MARCH 2: No.37 Alabama fell on the road No. 15 Kentucky 4-3, the Wildcats 6th straight victory over the Crimson Tide.

Although scoring went back and forth, Alabama couldn’t hold on.

No. 118 Andie Daniell and Alba Cortina-Pou recorded victories in singles, but 4 others from the Alabama fell to their Wildcat opponents.

In doubles, the Cortina-Pou/Selim and Hinton/Pelletier were victorious, but the Daniell/Moulin pair fell to the wildcat pair of No. 42 Adachi/Fanning 6-0.

MARCH 4: No. 37 Alabama women’s tennis team fell to No. 4 Vanderbilt 4-0, making them 0-2 in SEC play

No single or pair beat their opponent.

The women’s team will face No. 5 Ole Miss at home on March 9.
