Alabama football: Scrimmage No. 2 recap

They say competition brings the out the best in someone. That rang true among the Alabama wide receiving corps in Saturday’s scrimmage. With uncertainty about the starting lineup at that position, Marquis Maze, Darius Hanks and DeAndrew White all stepped up with big scrimmage numbers. Hanks led the way with six catches for 131 yards and three touchdowns, White had five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown and Maze had five catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns. “Hanks had a good … [Read more...]

2011 top 10 recruiting classes

Some are not strong believers when it comes to buying into the ranking of college football recruiting classes. Tide looks ahead to Iron Bowl

Alabama’s 63-7 victory over Georgia State Thursday night may have been the exception to the Crimson Tide’s 24-hour rule. Tide welcomes back alumni with win

The Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1, 3-1) kept its home winning streak alive by tacking on win number 18 against the Ole Miss Rebels (3-3, 1-2) with a final of 23-10. After last week’s loss to South Carolina, the Tide came back to Tuscaloosa for its homecoming game, welcoming back Alabama alumni both in the stands and on the field with a win to bounce back from defeat. “The goal of this game was for us to get back to playing with the kind of effort, the kind of toughness and discipline and … [Read more...]

Tide defense silencing doubters

Alabama’s victory over No. 7 Florida Saturday proved the Crimson Tide’s second-half comeback the week before against Arkansas was no fluke. If anything, it proved the fluke of that game was the first half. After allowing more than 300 total yards in the first half to the Razorbacks last week, Alabama’s defense continued its run of redemption against the Gators, forcing four turnovers and surrendering only two field goals in the Tide’s 31-6 victory. “We’re maturing every … [Read more...]
