The University of Alabama women’s rowing team won two medals and turned in several top 10 finishes in its fall finale at the Head of the Hooch Regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

“The team finished the fall with a strong overall showing at the Head of the Hooch,” head coach Larry Davis said. “It has established a good platform for developing the speed we will need for success in our spring racing season.”

The Crimson Tide beat out 44 college and club teams to take home first place in the Novice 8+ race, beating out second-place Clemson by 7.6 seconds. Alabama also delivered a second place performance in the Championship 8+ race.

Alabama earned a total of 16 top-20 finishes over the two day regatta, including eight top-10 finishes. Almost every crew that competed turned in a top-20 finish, showing off a depth that the Crimson Tide will certainly continue to build upon.

With the conclusion of its third and final fall regatta, Alabama heads into a midseason break with three race wins and 13 total medals. The Crimson Tide returns to competition with its first home regatta against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 27, 2016.
