JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Alabama Baseball team hits the road for the first time this weekend for the Jacksonville Classic and wins game one of three with a 9-2 win over Coastal Carolina in chilly conditions where it small-balled its way to a win on three hits.

Zane Adams started tonight and increased the pitch count from last week to the 80s. He recorded his first strikeout in the season, with six strikeouts, and allowed just one run. The difference in the game was walks, where Alabama’s pitching staff as a group walked only four batters, and Coastal Carolina walked 12 batters.

Alabama was able to open the game in the fifth inning, where 10 batters went to the plate, seven of which came up with two outs, and the big blow came from Brennen Norton, who had one of the team’s hits on a two-RBI single to left field scoring the rest of the runs on walks.

Kade Snell, this year’s captain, and representative of the number three jersey for the Tide, struggled at the plate tonight but was able to pass the baton and saw the ball well, with three base-on balls and two RBIs.

The pitching staff after Adams was able to be lights out and shut down the Chanticleers. Tyler Fay pitched 1.2 innings in relief of Adams and was able to record the win and put up a zero after the big fifth inning. Packy Bradley-Cooney, Connor Ball, and Braylon Myers finished the last three innings out, combined for three strikeouts, and only gave up one run.

Up next for the Tide is a battle with top 15 NC State at 3 p.m. central time, with Riley Quick toeing the rubber for the Crimson Tide in its biggest game yet this season.
