TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- After coming off a tough 2-1 loss on Monday in ten innings to Arkansas, The Tide bounced back in dominant fashion in a 12-0 win in run ruling fashion over the UAB Blazers.
“Gotta get thru the bad stuff to get to the good stuff,” said Alabama Coach Patrick Murphy on his message to the team coming off losing the SEC opening series this past season.
The Alabama offense, after coming off a game where it had only two hits against Arkansas was on fire to start the game in the first where Kali Heivilin hit a solo home run, to get it started, which led to five straight hits and Ally Shipman also had a RBI.
It seemed everything offensively was clicking for the Tide just in the second inning alone where it exploded for nine runs on seven hits where Kenleigh Cahalan, Bailey Dowling, Shipman, Faith Hensley, Kristen White, and Larissa Preuitt all recorded RBIs in the inning on singles.
The Tide scored all 12 runs for the ballgame in three innings.
“Coming off a weekend loss we didn’t want and we needed to just be loose and have fun, and that’s what helped us succeed tonight,” said Heivilin on the teams motivation in tonights game.
“I feel like everything was working for me tonight I just kept staying loose and kept attacking the hitters,” said Salter on tonights outing.
Alex Salter got the start for the Tide, and she set the tone from first pitch throughout the whole game only allowing one hit in five innings with a very efficient 52 pitch complete game and earned her third win of the season.
Shipman went 3/3 with two RBIs. Hensley, who came in as a pinch hitter went 1/2 with two RBIs as well.
Alabama moves to 24-8 on the season and will play its first road SEC series of the season at Tennessee the first game will be at 5 central on Friday on the SEC Network +.
