TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Coming off a big win against SEC opponent Texas A&M, the Tide traveled back to Tuscaloosa to battle the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Unfortunately, the Tide was not able to best the Bulldogs, falling in 3 sets (24-26, 21-25, 11-25).

A missed serve by Mississippi State put the Tide ahead 15-13 after a tight beginning to set 1. A Tide attacking error gave the ball back to the Bulldogs as they tied the match at 20. A kill by graduate student OH Abby Marjama forced a timeout from Mississippi State, and gave the Tide set point at 24-21. However, the Bulldogs were unaffected, scoring 5 straight. The Tide dropped set 1 24-26.

An early service run by the Bulldogs put the Tide down 8-13. Mississippi State went on another run late to widen their lead to 14-21. After a fight by the Tide, the Bulldogs put it away with a kill, and the Tide lost set 2 21-25.

A kill by Mississippi State off of a 31 attack gave them another 5 point advantage, and put the Tide down 9-14. The Bulldogs continued to extend their lead, as a kill through the middle put them up 11-19. The Tide would drop set 3 11-25, and lose the match.

After a disappointing first set loss, the Tide just couldn’t seem to rally back to compete in sets 2 & 3. With the loss, the Tide falls to 8-16 (2-10), second to last in the SEC.
