TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The tide continue to roll with a 3-0 win over Texas A&M Sunday night.
Alabama put on a wonderful defensive display for the entire game Sunday, allowing just five shots on goal in their shutout win. Goalkeeper McKinley Crone contributed with an impressive five saves.
As for the offense, Alabama used help from some familiar faces to get points on the board. Felicia Knox headed in her third goal of the season off a Gianna Paul assist in the 22nd minute. Riley Mattingly Parker scored her team high ninth goal of the season in the 31st minute off of a Knox assist. Gianna Paul scored off a Knox assist in the 79th minute for the lone goal of the second half.
Alabama midfielder Felicia Knox continues to impress as her one goal, two assist performance could very well be enough to carry her to her second consecutive “SEC Offensive Player of the Week” award.
The tide show no signs of stopping their hot streak, as their offense continues to perform at an elite level. The defense is only getting better throughout the season, shutting out four of their last five opponents.
Alabama gets a well deserved four day break before they travel to play Georgia on the road Friday night. The tide can only expect to get every team’s best game from here on out, as they hoist a 10-1-1 record and sit at the top of the SEC standings. Even more worth noting for the program is that they have a strong chance at being ranked in the top five next week for the first time in team history.
Alabama truly looks to be the team to beat in the SEC this season.
