The women’s tennis team are having a hot start to the 2022 season and is looking to keep the winning streak going. Having a big win over Houston this past Friday with a 6-1 victory.
As they look to keep the fire lit, TCU comes in Sunday at noon CT to play. Being 6-0 and undefeated this season, the Crimson Tide hopes to overcome the 6-1 road team.
Loudmilla Bencheikh leads the team ranking 32nd in doubles play with partner Anne Marie Hiser, as they are 3-0 in duos this season. These two being key players in the big wins this year. Hiser is also ranked 101st in singles action.
Winning both doubles and singles in their last matchup against Houston, the winning streak on the line is more than just the team’s record. This being both their sophomore year, the rise of these women is something to watch for the Crimson Tide.
The Pitak sisters (Ola and Kasia) also have hopes in keeping their winning streak of 5-0 alive. Coming off big wins in singles play against Houston as well, proves that they are a force in both styles of play. Petra Sedlackova will also be one to watch as she holds a 12-2 record on the year.
Sedlackova and her duos partner Anna Parkhomenko got the win last game against Houston with their 6-4 victory over Blanca Cortijo Parreno and Laura Slisane.
The upcoming match will be the annual Power of Pink match, started by Sarah Patterson a former UA gymnastics coach for breast cancer awareness.
Started in 2004, it expanded to the women’s sports in 2009. The tradition continues to bring awareness to breast cancer this weekend for the TCU game.
Alabama is 6-1 all time against the Horned Frogs with the last meeting being in 2017. The last meeting was a 6-1 victory for TCU, the Crimson Tide looks for redemption in this big match this Sunday.
