TUSCALOOSA, AL –The Alabama women’s tennis team has two games on Saturday, Jan. 29, hosting UAB (0-2) and UT Chattanooga (2-0). Alabama will play at 10 a.m. CT against UAB and Chattanooga at 2 p.m. CT this weekend. The Crimson Tide won their first two matchups against Samford 6-1 and Troy 7-0 this past weekend. They look to continue a strong start to this season.

Anne Marie Hiser had a strong showing in the first matchup, as she looks to be a player to watch. Only losing two games last week sets her apart in singles action while also scoring the first singles points in both last weeks matches.

When it comes to doubles play, Loudmilla Bencheikh and Hiser were ranked No. 19 as a doubles pair, according to the latest ITA rankings coming into the season. The pair won the ITA Southern Regionals doubles title last year and look to prove to be a force again this year.

Newcomers in Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak also look to be a strong duo in the doubles play. The Pitak sisters have shown that the chemistry between them runs deeper than blood. Dominate performances by the two keep the doubles play a must watch this weekend.

UAB comes in just 2-12 all-time versus the Crimson Tide, the blazers last beat the tide in 1998. As for UT Chattanooga, they come in Tuscaloosa being 0-6 all-time against Bama.

The season is just getting underway, this the ninth consecutive year that the Tide have started 2-0 and look to continue to keep their winning streaks alive.
