TUSCALOOSA, AL — This past week has been an eventful week for the Crimson Tide Basketball team. The AP poll has them ranked at #9, the highest ranking for the team in 14 years, as well as being ranked #8 in USA Today’s Coaches Poll.

These rankings came out after Alabama set the SEC record for three pointers made in a single game against LSU and beat Mississippi State to stay undefeated in conference play at 8-0. This matches Alabama’s second best start in program history for conference play.

Speaking of conference play, the SEC selected Josh Primo as their freshmen of the week. Primo averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 three pointers made and 3.5 rebounds per game to round out the week. He finished with 22 points in the LSU game to help secure a win over the Tigers.

The Tide hosted Kentucky last night at Coleman Coliseum, beating the Wildcats 70-59 to go for their 10th straight win. This is Alabama’s longest winning streak since 2002-03. This win marks the Tide’s first single season sweep over Kentucky since 1989. Guard Jaden Shackelford led the Tide with 21 points and had 5 rebounds.

Alabama travels to Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday, Jan. 30th, to take on the Sooners at 11 a.m. The #24 Sooners are coming off a win last night against their biggest rival, the #5 ranked Texas Longhorns.
