The Crimson Tide women’s basketball team began their 2018-2019 campaign Wednesday night against the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana University.
Alabama came into the game in hopes of continuing their surge at the end of the last season making it to the semi-final round of the NIT tournament, before falling to Virginia Tech.
Early season games can provide challenges for heavy favorites at times, such as last season when the North Carolina men’s team dropped a game at home to Wofford College.
But the Crimson Tide would have no trouble beating up on SE Louisiana, as they would only allow 8 first quarter points while scoring 21 of their own.
In the second quarter the Lions would match their 1Q total of 8 points allowing a point more to Alabama this time making the half time score 43-16.
After a nice ceremony honoring the Alabama Army and Air Force, the Crimson Tide kept up their steady pace and would take a commanding 61-27 lead into the final period.
The Tide would roll on to an 88-40 victory giving them a 1-0 start before they head west to take on the University of Utah and Southern Methodist University.
