TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tide outlasted Florida 2-0 to pick up yet another win in their last home match of the season on Sunday evening.
Alabama clinched a regular season SEC title with the win, meaning they will be the one seed in the SEC tournament next week in Pensacola, Florida. The regular season championship is the first in program history.
The Tide honored their eight seniors before the game on Sunday night in front of a record-breaking crowd of 1,882. The Tide continue to gain more and more recognition, both locally and nationally, and rightfully so.
Alabama opened the game with a beautiful goal from senior Kat Rogers on a volley from just outside the box in the 26th minute. What better night for Rogers to score her first goal of the season than on senior night? The Tide followed it up in the second half with a goal from Riley Tanner, extending their lead to 2-0.
Alabama finishes the season with a perfect 9-0 home record with the win.
Homecoming week was more than beneficial to the Tide, helping them gain the publicity to bring out a record breaking crowd. Star Riley Mattingly Parker spoke at the podium during the Homecoming pep rally Friday night. The team was also honored on the football field during halftime of this Saturday’s Alabama versus Mississippi State football game. The Tide couldn’t appreciate the growing recognition more, and it is sure to continue growing if they keep dominating as they have all season.
With just one regular season game remaining, the Crimson tide hold a fantastic 16-1-1 record, as well as a 16 game unbeaten streak and 12 straight wins.
The Tide will look to finish the regular season strong Thursday night, when they travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers.
