TUSCALOOSA. Ala. – Game one of the Alabama, Mississippi State series was close. Montana Fouts came out throwing heat, striking out the States batters with the defense backing her up. It was all defense for both teams up until the 6th inning. Mississippi State got on the board first with an RBI single.
The Tide quickly responded back in the bottom of the 6th with a Megan Bloodworth solo home run to tie the game 1-1. The Crimson Tide defense held Mississippi State in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th the Tide got the ball rolling, with Bailey Dowling starting the inning off with a single and being substituted with Savannah Woodard to run.
Kaylee Two kept the inning going with a single to right field sending Woodard to 3rd. Woodard was able to score off a bad pitch that got away from the catcher to win the game in the bottom of the 7th 2-1. Fouts had 11 strikeouts to help secure tonight’s win against Mississippi State.
“I think we have a knack for they score we score thank God, in the bottom it was great at bat by Dowling, great at bat by Tow; the key to the whole thing was Savannahs base running she’s the best base runner on the team, she knows everything in the book about base running.” Said Coach Patrick Murphy.
The Crimson Tide are back in action tomorrow at Rhodes Stadium Friday, April 15 – 6 p.m. CT against Mississippi State.
