TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– After a two-hour rain delay Montana Fouts took the mound for the Tide. The first couple of innings were quiet for both teams. Kat Grill put Bama on the board in the bottom of the 3rd 1-0 on an infield home run caused by an errant throw on Grills bunt.
Bama continued to pass the bats in the bottom of the 5th with Jenna Johnson and Kat grill hitting base hits and Ashley Prange getting walked to load the bases for freshman Aubrey Barnhart who hit an RBI double to shallow right field. Prange scored on a sacrifice by Bailey Dowling 4-0 Tide. The rest of the game was all Alabama, keeping their dominant defense on the Bulldogs throats.
Fouts threw 11 strikeouts to complete the 4-0 shutout against State. This was her 19th win of the season and her 39th of her career having double-digit strikeouts.
“Got to start with Montana she really respected the heck out of that line-up with the way she pitched with 11 K’s give her Steph and Shipman a lot of credit. We got lucky with the little league home run with Kat Grill and then Barnhart’s hit was key.” Said Coach Patrick Murphy.
