TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jaala Torrence got the start for the Tide, making it her first SEC start of the season. The Bulldogs got on the board first with a two-run home run in the top of the 1st. Bulldogs kept things going in the top of the 2nd as well, scoring two more runs off two base hits 4-0 top of the 2nd.
Pitching change for the Crimson Tide in the top of the 2nd, Alex Salter pitching with the bases loaded, walks a runner in. Alabama started to respond at the bottom of the 2nd with Kaylee Tow hitting a solo home run in her first at bat. The game was silent for bot team up until the top of the 6th with State adding another run with a RBI single, 6-1 Mississippi State.
Bama quickly responded at the bottom of the 6th with Bailey Dowling hitting a solo shot, followed by Kaylee Tow getting walked and Jenna Lord coming up hitting a two-run home run to put the game within reach 6-4 state. Pitching change for the Tide at the top of the 7th, Bama went with Montana Fouts in hopes to keep the game close. Fouts comes up with a major strike out that sent Bama into the bottom of the 7th with the momentum.
Ally Shipman hit a home run at the bottom of the 7th that led to completing the comeback. Tow and Dowling were walked back-to-back followed by Lords base hit to load the bases. Megan Bloodworth walked it off for the Crimson Tide with a two-run double to the left field wall to secure the game 7-6 Tide.
This was the second walk-off win of the series against Mississippi State. Fouts earned the win and the save for the comeback
“The fans they deserve all of it they know when to yell. This is the toughest environment in college softball to play in, the energy we get from them in unbelievable.” Said Coach Patrick Murphy.
Alabama is back in action on Saturday April 15 at 4 P.M. for the final game of the series against Mississippi State.
