TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide completed the tournament sweep on Sunday February 20th with a 9-1 win over Middle Tennessee.

Montana Fouts heated things up for the Tide on the mound, finishing the day with 13 strikeouts. The win over Middle Tennessee was Fouts third win of the season. This was her 31st career game with double-digit Ks.

On the offensive side of things Freshman Kali Heivilin made her first career start, getting on base off an error. Ashley Prange bounced a two-run home run off the wall in left field. Heivilin’s error brought in a run to end the bottom of the inning 3-0. In the bottom of the 2nd Shipman pulled a bases-loaded single through the left side, driving in two runs, followed by Kaylee Tow drawing a bases-loaded walk making the score 6-0.

Middle Tennessee scored in the top of the 6th off an RBI double making the game 6-1. In the bottom of the 6th freshman Jordan Stephens ended the game with a three-run home run to left securing the 9-1 win to close out the weekend. The Crimson Tide won all five of its games at the Easton Bama Bash, outscoring its opponents 30-3.

The Tide has hit at least one home run in six of its nine games, with today marking its third multi-HR game. Shipman was rewarded MVP of the tournament.

Coach Patrick Murphy said, “I feel like my players are seeing the ball pretty good, I’ve been trying to give everyone an opportunity, so they have to be prepared, they have to be ready.”

The Tide are back in action Thursday, Feb. 24 at #20/20 Louisiana – 6 p.m. CT.
