Following a solid performance by the Crimson Tide on Friday evening to secure a win in the first game of the series, Alabama faced a tough loss 9-1 against the top-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks. The Tide now stands at 15-4 on the season and at 1-1 in SEC play following its first two conference contests.
The Razorbacks scored the first run of the matchup in the third inning. Arkansas continued their pattern of scoring a run an inning with one in the fourth as well as the fifth.
After the Crimson Tide showed some life with a run from Jim Jarvis in the sixth, the Razorbacks kept the game out of reach with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, followed by another inning resulting in three in the eighth to set the final score at 9-1.
Dylan Smith allowed three runs across 4 innings pitched, drawing nine strikeouts on the mound. This led the team to go deeper into the bullpen on Saturdays contest. Jacob McNairy and Jake Eddington followed in relief, giving up three and two runs respectively. In addition William Freeman completed a scoreless inning on the mound.
