On Wednesday afternoon, Alabama practiced in front of the media for the last time before the Mississippi State game on Saturday. The defense worked on various drills, including a dime package against a scout team. The dime package featured Minkah Fitzpatrick and Hootie Jones at safety while Marlon Humphrey and Anthony Averett maintained their usual roles as outside cornerbacks. Safety Ronnie Harrison moved up to join Tony Brown at Alabama’s extra cornerback positions.

Linebackers Reuben Foster and Shaun Dion Hamilton were out there as well. Foster was sporting the same cast on his left arm that he had at Monday’s practice. The cast is what some people refer to as a club, where it covers the entire hand.

Additional Practice Notes:

Defensive Linemen Jonathan Allen, D’ Shawn Hand and Dalvin Tomlinson worked at the sled and then joined outside linebackers Ryan Anderson and Tim Williams to work against a scout team offensive line.Senior O.J. Howard worked separately from the other tight ends and caught screen passes from an assistant coachQuarterbacks worked on quick in and out passes and slants with receivers.Defensive backs ran one-on-one coverage drills with coach Nick Saban before they moved to the dime package exercise.
