No. 1 Alabama dominated Vanderbilt, 59-0, in its first trip to Nashville since Nick Saban’s first season in 2007. The Crimson Tide’s running game powered the offense and finished with 677 yards total and 496 yards rushing. While Alabama’s offense was hitting on all cylinders, its defense shut down the Commodores, holding Vanderbilt to just 78 yards.

Freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa dances around in the pocket and makes multiple defenders miss then delivers a strike to DeVonta Smith for a 27-yard touchdown pass.

Notes:

Ronnie Harrison intercepted a tipped pass on Vanderbilt’s first drive. It was Harrison’s second interception of the season, and the sixth of his career.
Running backs Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough set the tone early for Alabama. The two players combined for 181 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. Harris and Scarbrough also had season-high rushing totals in the first half as well with 109 and 72 yards, respectively. Harris finished with 151 yards total.
Alabama’s defense terrorized Vanderbilt quarterback Kyle Shurmer in the first half. Shurmer finished with just 17 yards in the first half and an interception. He finished the game with 18 yards and an interception. Duece Wallace replaced him with just over nine minutes left in the third quarter.
Jerry Jeudy caught his first career touchdown with 9:02 left in the third quarter. The 34-yard touchdown pass came from Tua Tagovailoa.
Tua Tagovailoa had an impressive day after coming in for Jalen Hurts. He finished 8 for 10, 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Tuscaloosa native Brian Robinson got his first career of his career for Alabama. Later in the game, he scored his first career touchdown on a 17-yard carry.
Freshman tight ends Major Tennison and Kedrick James saw action for the first time in their Alabama careers. Tennison would get his first career catch midway through the first quarter.
The Crimson Tide had 35 more first downs than Vanderbilt. …read more
