After scoring the game-winning goal in Alabama’s historic win over sixth ranked Florida State on Sunday, forward Taylor Morgan was selected as the SEC freshman of the week yesterday.Morgan’s goal, coming off of a savvy pass from fellow freshman Casey Wertz, led Alabama to its first win against a top-ten team in program history.

Although Morgan’s goal in the 55th minute of Sunday’s contest was her first career game-winning goal, it was her second time finding the back of the net this season. Morgan also scored a goal in a 2-1 win against Samford.

Like several other freshmen, Morgan has had an instant impact on Alabama’s team this year. The Westfield, N.J. native, who is referred to as “yolo” by her teammates, credits Coach Wes Hart with helping her adjust her attacking style to be more effective in-game. Morgan took a total of three shots against FSU, with two being on goal.

Morgan is certainly a player to watch in Alabama’s next game against South Alabama on Friday, September 1.
