The countdown has started, 21 days from today Presbyterian College comes to town to start the 2017 season.
Just as he did in his first practice as head coach, Greg Goff brought the energy and expected his players to do the same, even yelling at the players “If you walk out of my cage, you’ll be walking to the dugout.”
Practice was roughly the same as it was in the fall, as players hit the opposite way with Goff pitching to them.
Keith Holcombe made his debut, making this his first practice with Goff. The team went over situational fielding, while Goff was the signal caller to the runners on base. While players were taking live pitching from Goff, there were two groups of hitters behind the cage, working on bunting or hitting whiffle golf balls with a thin bat to practice bat control.Pitchers had bullpens during batting practice, working on their mechanics.Pitchers who weren’t participating at bullpens, were doing sprints in left-center field.
