At 12:15 on Tuesday afternoon, the Alabama men’s basketball team will get a chance to avenge the worst loss suffered in coach Avery Johnson’s first year when the Dayton Flyers come to town. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 as a part of the College Hoops Tip-off Marathon.

When the two programs met last season, Dayton dominated the Crimson Tide en route to a 80-48 victory. The Flyers went on to claim a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament while the Crimson Tide found itself on the wrong side of the bubble.

“Fortunately, some of our returning players played in that game last year and I curious to see how they are going to respond,” Johnson said. “I am also looking forward to seeing how our new guys respond. The one thing I do know is our defensive performance on Friday night will not be good enough.”

A win on Tuesday might not get the Crimson Tide into the NCAA Tournament this time, but the way Alabama finished last season a victory over Dayton might have been enough one year ago.

The men’s basketball team is offering several promotions to get students to attend the game. The first 1,200 students will receive a free shirt, and 100 pizzas will be passed out to the student section during the game. Tickets will also be given to faculty and staff members for only $5.
