After a week that saw redshirt senior Krystal Rivers set a new career-high in kills that moved her into third place in Alabama program history, Rivers has been now been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in a row.

Rivers had 59 kills to help lead the Crimson Tide to a 3-0 showing in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash, including a career-high 38 kills in a five set win over Southern Miss. Rivers now has 1,656 career kills. She needs just 53 more to move into second place all-time.

Rivers currently paces the SEC with 213 kills this season, and also leads the SEC in points with 240. Those totals are also good for second and third in the entire nation respectively.

This is Rivers’s fifth weekly conference honor of her career, which ties her with Erin Heffner for the most in Alabama history.

Rivers and the Crimson Tide return to the court for another three match tournament weekend on Friday night, when they host East Tennessee State. The Crimson Tide plays Presbyterian and Georgia Southern on Saturday.
