Alabama honored as preseason favorite to secure SEC title

On Thursday members of the media selected the Crimson Tide to leave Atlanta victorious for the third season in a row.

Neither vote that determined the division winners was close with Alabama finishing with 246 first-place votes to LSU’s 76. The Crimson Tide’s predicted opponent in the SEC Championship Game, Tennessee finished with 225 first-place votes to finish significantly ahead of Florida’s 57.

Alabama was picked to win the SEC 223 times with LSU and Tennessee rounding out the top three with 59 and 29 votes respectively. Every team received at least one vote to win the conference except Auburn, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Missouri.
