Alabama had to come back to win game one of a doubleheader
against Alcorn State. Down 5-4, Alabama scored four runs in the eighth inning
to take back the lead and win 8-5.

In the eighth, Chandler Avant singled in a run to tie the
game at 5-5. The inning was going to be over after that when Chance Vincent
grounded to the shortstop with two outs. The throw was off-line though and two
runs scored. Alabama added another insurance run and brought in Thomas Burrows
to close it out in the ninth. He struck out the side to end the game.

Early in the game Alabama took the lead after scoring two runs in the first
inning. Then Taylor Poe added another run with his solo shot over the left
field fence to take a 3-0 lead. Freshman Brock Love made his first collegiate
start and pitched three scoreless innings, striking out four in the process.

Alcorn State retaliated in the fifth, sixth and seventh
innings outscoring Alabama 5-1 to take a 5-4 lead.
