On Sunday, the University of Alabama women’s golf team competed in the first round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Championship at English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans, LA.

The team finished sixth, shooting a 4-over par 292.

Senior Emma Talley led the team and is currently tied for seventh after shooting a 2-under par 70. Another senior, Janie Jackson, also had a good round and is currently tied for 14th after shooting an even par 72.

Heading into round two, Alabama is five shots back of leaders Arizona and Oklahoma State who both carded a 1-under par 287.

The start of Monday’s second round has been moved up to 8 a.m. and will feature a shotgun start due to the threat of inclement weather in the New Orleans area.
