The No. 15 Alabama women’s tennis team completed the first day in the three day Wildcat Duals at Northwestern University on Friday with mixed results. The tournament is the first of the season for the team.

Alabama experienced limited singles success on day one. Junior Erin Routliffe, the No. 63 ranked player in the country in singles tennis, defeated Northwestern’s Erin Larner 6-4, 6-2 to earn the Tide’s only win of the day. Freshman Andie Daniell lost in a three-set match, and the four other Crimson Tide women to play singles all lost in straight sets.

The doubles portion was tough for the Crimson Tide as well. Routliffe and junior Danielle Spielmann lost to the No. 7 doubles pair in the country. Daniell and sophomore Aryn Greene lost their match, and senior Natalia Maynetto and junior Joanna Nena Savva also lost.

The Crimson Tide continue the tournament at 3 p.m. C.T. on Saturday.
