A week ago Alabama was preparing to face Georgia running back Nick Chubb, and even though that test is now behind them the Crimson Tide can’t relax now.

This weekend Alex Collins and Arkansas comes to town. Arkansas is one of four teams in the SEC averaging over 200 hundred yards on the ground a game- a mark Alabama falls just shy of itself.

So it was not very surprising to see some of the running backs sporting No.22 (Alex Collins’ number) and No.3 (back up Rawleigh Williams III’s number) jerseys during Monday’s practice.

Damien Harris, Derrick Henry and the other running backs ran drills with one football in each hand. Backs have runs drills like this previously to work on ball security.

Practice Notes:

The players worked on individual drills during the media viewing period. Quarterbacks like Jake Coker worked on throwing passes shorter distance passes to tight ends like TY Flournoy-Smith and O.J. Howard at first before later working on some longer passes.Reuben Foster and other linebackers ran drills designed to improve their quickness while they kept their eyes out for potential interception opportunities. …read more
