The Alabama football team capped the first day of classes in the 2015-16 year with a practice outdoors. Quarterback Jake Coker returned to the field for practice, leading the line after missing the last two days of practice with a “minor foot injury.” Alec Morris and Cooper Bateman followed Coker. David Cornwell led another line of quarterbacks, followed by Blake Barnett and two walk-ons wearing numbers 19 and 10.
WR Cam Sims returned to practice in a non-contact black jersey and a brace on his left knee. He appeared to be limited, running some routes but sitting out other drills.DL Anfernee Jennings also wore a black non-contact jersey in his first practice of the year. Jennings failed his physical after slipping a disc before his arrival on campus.RB Kenyan Drake was second in line on the running back drills he did run, but was limited during Wednesday’s practice.Alabama worked in its dime package again, defending wide receiver stack formations, a look that a handful of offenses, notably Ole Miss, used with some success against Alabama last season.
