University of Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne announced on Tuesday that the school has signed Nick Saban to an eight-year extension. The new contract will keep Saban as head coach until the 2025 season. Saban’s base salary of $245,000 and talent fee of $8.48 million will remain the same, but he will now receive a “contract extension signing incentive” that pays him $4 million.

Saban’s new contract adds three years onto his existing contract and will run through Jan. 31, 2025.

“Terry and I are pleased and happy to agree to the contract extension The University of Alabama has offered us, ensuring our time here in Tuscaloosa will continue for many more years,” Saban said. “This has become our home and we are looking forward to finishing our career at Alabama. I want to thank President Bell, Greg Byrne, our athletic administration, football staff and the entire University community for all of their support, which has been instrumental in the success of our organization.”

Saban wasn’t the only one on Alabama’s staff to receive new contracts. New offensive coordinator Brian Daboll earned a three-year, $1.2 million contract. Along with him, Byrne’s five-year contract was approved, and many assistant coaches outside of Daboll received raises.

Notably, outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi was given a $400,000 raise to bring his salary up to $950,000 annually. Lupoi is not only influential on the field, but he also is one of Alabama’s best recruiters. Lupoi was being tapped by many teams to become their defensive coordinators, but elected to stay with the Crimson Tide.
