Alabama gymnastics will enter the season ranked No. 3 in the coaches’ poll after finishing in that spot last season.

The top three of the coaches poll is in the same order of the 2016 NCAA Championship with Oklahoma coming in at No. 1 and LSU earning the No. 2 ranking.

“This shows that we are once again considered a contender for the national championship,” said UA head coach Dana Duckworth in a press release. “That’s our goal every year – to be on the floor of the national championships on the last night of the season, with a chance to win.”

UCLA, Florida, Utah, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia and California round out the top 10 for the coaches poll. The SEC saw all eight of its gymnastics teams place in the top 25 for the coaches poll.

Alabama has been one of the most consistent programs in the country, finishing in the top four each of the last eight seasons. The Crimson Tide won back-to-back national titles during the 2011 and 2012 season.

Alabama will face two very tough opponents early on. The Crimson Tide will travel to take on No. 1 Oklahoma on Jan. 6, then will face No. 2 LSU at home on Jan. 13.
