The Crimson Tide lost its second to last game of the season, falling at home to the Ole Miss Rebels 3 sets to 1 in a match that was very hard-fought and competitive.

Senior Krystal Rivers had 25 kills and three blocks, and senior Kat Hutson had 15 kills for the Crimson Tide. Senior Sierra Wilson led the team with 51 assists, and sophomore Natalie Murison contributed 23 digs. The team had stretches of strong play but ultimately fell short.

“It’s hard to focus on [what] we did well when we weren’t able to maintain it,” Wilson said.

Sophomore Lexi Thompson had 14 kills to lead Ole Miss, with junior Aubrey Edie adding 43 assists and sophomore Kate Gibson coming up with five blocks.

The Crimson Tide won the second set, and only lost the first and third sets by two points each. All of the first three sets featured Alabama rallies to take the lead, but the Crimson Tide were only able to come away with a victory in the second. In the fourth and final set, Ole Miss led by as much as 13 points and withstood a last-ditch Alabama rally to win the set by six points.

The Crimson Tide drop to 16-15 with the loss, and have just one game remaining in the season- Senior Night Friday against LSU. The game means a lot to the seniors on the team, including Wilson.

“It still hasn’t sunk in that it will be my last game in Foster Auditorium, but I’m excited,” Wilson said.

The group of seniors that will finish out their Alabama careers on Friday night have had a big impact on the younger players on the team.

“They’ve helped us so much, and they bring so much to the team and have really helped out us underclassmen a lot,” Murison said.
