Game of the Week: LSU vs. Oregon

LSU vs. Oregon in Cowboys Stadium, 7 p.m. Central on ABC

LSU leads the overall series 2-1, the last meeting being in 1977.

LSU has had some serious off-the-field troubles recently, with starting QB Jordan Jefferson being arrested for 2nd degree battery after a bar fight. However, head coach Les Miles has done very well for himself on the recruiting trail in recent years and just might have the talent behind his missing players to salvage a season that looks lost from day one. Oregon, on the other hand, is looking to avenge last year’s national title loss with the core of offensive talent coming back, including RB LaMichael James. This game should make the season for the winner and be a big blow to the loser, since both teams have hopes of reaching the BCS National Championship game in New Orleans this season. This match-up will kick off a series of big-time college football games to be hosted in Cowboys Stadium, including Alabama and Michigan next season.

Georgia and Boise State

Aaron Murray leads the Bulldogs into Atlanta to take on the Broncos, who have a lot to prove in their first season in the Mountain West Conference.

Ole Miss and BYU

Ole Miss lost in double-overtime to Jacksonville State in last year’s season opener, and will hope to avoid the same thing against the Cougars, who are in their first season as an Independent team.

South Carolina and East Carolina

Prize recruit Jadaveon Clowney could make his debut for the Gamecocks against East Carolina, whose program has been on quite the downslide after losing Skip Holtz to South Florida.

Arkansas and Missouri State

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino is going to be breaking in a new starting quarterback, Tyler Wilson, and trying to cope with the loss of RB Kniles Davis.

Florida and Florida Atlantic

This in-state game marks the beginning of the Will Muschamp era. Laden with high expectations, Muschamp replaces two-time national champion Urban Meyer in his first ever game as a head coach.
